Don’t Reveal Personal Information

Be careful not to accidentally or unnecessarily give personal information about yourself, your family, friends and neighbours to anyone on the phone, at the front door, in a newspaper ad, on the Internet or any open public place.
Never let it be known when a house will be unoccupied or when someone is home alone.
Hang up gently on nuisance phone callers giving them no information and no response.
Always make the home look occupied and make out there is someone else with you.
Before opening the front door you could yell out "I'll get it!" and ask, "Who is it?"
Young children should not have their names boldly displayed on clothing or bags as a stranger to become friendly might use this.
